Voluntary – Audit Sub Committee Member – Non-Profit – Part time

As audit subcommittee member you will plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisations financial transparency, accountability, and compliance with regulations. 

Responsibilities of the Audit Sub Committee include:

  • Financial Oversight – oversee the financial management of the charity. This includes reviewing financial reports, budgets, and financial policies to ensure they align with the organisation’s goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Management – assess and mitigate financial risks faced by the charity. This involves identifying potential risks such as fraud, financial mismanagement, or regulatory non-compliance, and implementing strategies to minimise these risks.
  • Internal Controls – ensure that adequate internal controls are in place to safeguard the charity’s assets and prevent financial irregularities.
  • External Audit – liaise with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.
  • Reporting – report findings and recommendations to the charity’s board of directors.

Qualifications necessary to apply for this voluntary role:

  • Financial Expertise – A strong background in finance, accounting, or auditing is essential. This could be demonstrated through professional qualifications such as ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), or relevant experience in financial management or auditing roles.
  • Understanding of Regulatory Requirements – Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, such as charity laws and accounting standards, is necessary to ensure compliance and good governance.
  • Integrity and Independence – able to demonstrate integrity and independence in their decision-making process to ensure objectivity and impartiality in their oversight role.
